The PE-505 is a phono equaliser preamplifier with two monaural and fully balanced input/output circuits that support a balanced MC input. Equipped with equaliser options for two of the biggest record labels: Decca and Columbia. 

Fully balanced circuit design
From the head amplifier to the equaliser and buffer amplifier, the PE-505 uses a fully balanced circuit design at all stages to amplify, equalise and clean up even extremely weak audio signals. Even unbalanced signals at the conventional RCA input are converted to differential processing mode directly after the input terminals.

Equalisation at the differential pickup output
The equalisation circuit at the differential output absorbs errors at the balanced output and delivers a more accurate audio signal. The equaliser reproduces the signals purely and naturally.

High-precision RIAA circuit
The LF-type equalisation amplifier achieves an RIAA deviation of less than ±0.05 dB. (20Hz to 20kHz)

High signal-to-noise ratio
The PE-505 achieves 106dB at the RCA input (MM) and 86dB at the XLR input (MC), while the residual noise voltage achieves a demanding 10µV at the MM and 85µV at the MC (XLR input).

High-precision OLD EQ curves
In addition to the modern RIAA curve, customised curves on monaural records from DECCA and COLUMBIA are also supported.

Versatile settings and unique measuring functions
The PE-505 has a switchable load capacitance for MM cartridges and a switchable load resistance for MC cartridges. In addition, the load resistance measurement allows the user to select a suitable load resistance by pressing the MEASURE button on the front panel to display the total load resistance value including the cable resistance on the meter. The subsonic function displays subsonic signals below 6 Hz on the meter, while the subsonic filter (17 Hz, -24 dB/octave) cuts out unnecessary low frequencies from the listening area.

DEMAG function for refreshing the pickups
With the quick demagnetisation function, both the magnetised iron cores of the MC cartridges and the step-up transformer are demagnetised by playing a record in the DEMAG position for just 30 seconds.
